When the geese come back in the Spring<\/span>
\n And they learn that their friend has gone,<\/span>
\n I wonder will they take to wing<\/span>
\n And try to follow him on?<\/span><\/p>\n
When they look for their friend again<\/span>
\n As they\u2019ve done in the years before,<\/span>
\n Will they stay with us who remain<\/span>
\n Or seek him the wide world o\u2019er?<\/span><\/p>\n
They loved him, the young and the old,<\/span>
\n Wild geese and the whistling swan!<\/span>
\n What then, when the flocks are told<\/span>
\n The man who was kind is gone?<\/span><\/p>\n
There were hunters wherever they flew,<\/span>
\n And snares for the careless wing.<\/span>
\n Now, they\u2019ll grieve for the friend they knew<\/span>
\n When the birds come back in the Spring.<\/span><\/p>\n
