My father Alec ( Alexander ) Dumbrell served with 408 sqdrn circa 1942 Linton on Ouse. Wireless opp in Lancaster Mk11 shot down over Belgium and hidden by resistance for about 1yr. He wrote his story which I still have. Also have a piece of his parachute ( somewhere)
his silk escape map etc. Aso his FALSE ID card made by Belgium resistance. He was liberated in Brussels. Have photos (somewhere) of his Lanc EQ-W and also EQ-S. He met up with former aircrew a few times after the war. Im 57 now, but Im still SO proud of my dear old dad and his crew, he was around 21yrs at the time. Regards Del, Isle of Wight, England.
