Golden Hawks Trophy

408 THS rapidly deployed personnel and six CH-146 Griffon helicopters to lead an Air Task Force as part of Operation GLOBE April 5, 2024 to May 25, 2024. The deployment was part of a Canadian Armed Forces response to a Global Affairs Canada request to assistance to the Canadian Embassy in Haiti, Port-au-Prince.

On March 13, 2026, 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron (Tac Hel Sqn) received the Golden Hawks Trophy from the Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 700 Wing. The award recognizes the squadron’s rapid deployment of a six CH-146 Griffon helicopter detachment to the Dominican Republic in support of Operation GLOBE 24 (April 5–May 25, 2024), where 408 Tac Hel Sqn led the Air Task Force of a 300-personnel Joint Task Force.

The Golden Hawks Trophy is awarded annually for outstanding contributions and highly commendable achievements in military aviation. During the operation, the detachment supported a Canadian Armed Forces response to a request from Global Affairs Canada to assist the Canadian Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Working closely with soldiers from 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, 408 Tac Hel Sqn provided critical aviation support to embassy operations.
