The Edmonton Era 1971-Present

The Squadron was re-activated Jan 1, 1971, at CFB Namao, as “408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron” flying CH135 Twin Huey and CH136 Kiowa helicopters. Over the next 40+ years, 408 THS was involved in multiple exercises in support of No. 1 Canadian Brigade Group (later 1 CMBG). In 1996 408 Squadron was re-equipped with the CH146 Griffon Helicopter

It also has participated in numerous Operations, Exercises, Overseas Deployments and Peacekeeping Tours.

1998 – Op Palladium (NATO Stabilization Force – SFOR – ROTO 3)

1999 – Op Kinetic (NATO Peacekeeping Force – KFOR – Kosovo)

2000 – Op Palladium (NATO Stabilization Force – SFOR – ROTO 6)

2001 – Op Palladium (NATO Stabilization Force – SFOR – ROTO 8)
