23rd May 1943, Bournemouth, a large Personnel and Reception Centre, was bombed on a hit and run raid by Fw190s. The Hotel Metropole was hit and a number of RCAF personnel perished. Today I visited the cemetery where RCAF members were buried (and note that 3 were from 408Sqn) because on Thursday a memorial will be unveiled very close to the site of the former Metropole Hotel.
